Hear(t)' is Local Foreigner's 2020 development project using live recording, sound performance and VR installation using the public's heart beats as a starting point.
The project looks at the heart beat as a signifier of both life and death, a symbol of the commonality between all humans. In a time where our society (specifically in the UK) is living through an increase in social tensions and an identity and existential crisis, 'Hear(t)' seeks to, literally, amplify and make visible the sound of our hearts, the organ most associated with our passions and emotions.
Through this project I want to explore how the experience of art may offer ways to further connect different humans. Using sound and VR I want to create contexts and experiences that explore some of our commonalities.
